I've been whining and complaining for months now over the excessive heat we've had this summer. I guess the boo-hoo'ing must've paid off because times, it looks like it'sa changin'. Oh I'm not so naive to think we'll have cooler temps for the remainder of the year. The weather nazis are doing all they can to ensure another heat wave or two hits us before the first frost. But little examples of the upcoming changes in the season are starting to appear. Actually, some more obvious than others. This little aspen has not only begun to change it's leaves but some of the leaves have already begun to fall.
I do like change. It's one the things I love about Colorado. Heat, cold and all the other stuff in between. It wasn't that long ago that I was talking about the coming spring and capturing photos of the little flowers pushing their way up and out through the dirt. Most of our flowers have already packed it in and the leaves on the trees are starting to wilt just a little bit. It won't be long before we get the chill in the air, the snow on the ground and the first grumblings of "Damn it's cold!"
Change in life, as much as it scares the crap out of us, is a good thing. It reminds us we're alive, that there's hope for the future, that no matter what our day and circumstances might offer, life will always show us something new tomorrow. Hey, life isn't some long running Vegas show. Even if it seems that we live the same crappy lives every day, each day IS unique. What makes it seem consistently shitty is our decision to treat each day the same. Make a choice to be different. Change your outlook, change your approach. Do something different and see the results. We can fear change if we want to but I think the alternative is much better. Maybe tomorrow will bring some aggravation or hardship. So what? Why not turn those events into opportunities to grow and to draw on strengths you forgot you had. You've got 'em. Trust me, I know.
